How Lovable Empowered Grammy Nominated Music Producer and Filmmaker Mike Burns to Build an AI Filmmaking Studio Platform

How Lovable Empowered Grammy Nominated Music Producer and Filmmaker Mike Burns to Build an AI Filmmaking Studio Platform
Author: Stephane & Mike at Lovable

TL;DR

  • AI is revolutionizing filmmaking, but no unified tool exists to streamline the process.
  • Hollywood filmmaker Mike Burns built his own AI-powered solution using Lovable, despite having ZERO coding experience.
  • The result? A thriving AI filmmaking platform already being adopted by filmmakers and studios.

The Challenge: AI in Filmmaking, but No Unified Tools

AI is transforming filmmaking, but for many, it remains a fragmented and complex process. Despite the rise of AI-generated video, most filmmakers and generative AI creators still have to juggle multiple tools, platforms, and files just to create a single scene. Mike Burns, an experienced Hollywood director and producer, saw this gap firsthand.

Movipods by Mike Burns

In 2023, Mike formally launched MOVIPODS, a creative incubator as a way to productize scripts through AI-powered media, helping screenwriters and filmmakers take control of their projects without relying on traditional industry gatekeepers.

With decades of experience in the both music and film industries—having worked on major Hollywood productions, including two of Bruce Willis’ final films—Mike was always at the forefront of technology. When he began experimenting with AI-generated content for Movipods, he quickly realized that while AI was powerful, there was no single tool that streamlined the process. Filmmakers needed something better.

The Solution: Lovable Empowered Hollywood

Movipods Virtual Producer MVP

Rather than waiting for the perfect tool, Mike decided to build one himself using Lovable. Within weeks, he created an early version of  MVP (Movipods Virtual Producer)—an AI-powered filmmaking platform that combines AI-generated video, audio, and storytelling tools into a single, intuitive workflow. After months of enhancements and integrations adding the latest and greatest models including Kling, Minimax, Luma Magnific,VEO2, Runway, Open AI, Hedra, and Google’s Gemini 2 studio’s API’s…

MVP promises to be the most dynamic AI filmmaking studio software to date.

I saw something pop up on YouTube about Lovable, and I thought, wow, this is really interesting,” Mike recalls. “I was in bed, got up, went to my computer, and just started inputting my vision. Within weeks, I had something extremely useful that both simplified and sped up my AI production workflows exponentially.

Despite having no coding experience, Mike found Lovable’s AI-powered development environment intuitive. He was able to turn his vision into a functional product faster than he ever thought possible.

He also discovered that Lovable’s AI assistant acted as a creative collaborator, enabling rapid iterations and feature enhancements like keyboardless prompting and a conversational AI filmmaking tutor to help beginners get started on their AI movie journey. Features like the Select tool and the visual editor significantly accelerated his workflow, helping him single handedly build a highly sophisticated AI film production platform.

The Impact: An AI Film Studio Startup For All.

MVP is already making an impact. Filmmakers are using it for creating preconceptual trailers for their films, replacing otherwise cost prohibitive productions, and helping producers reduce costs by generating establishing shots, exteriors, and digital extras. The platform has also attracted independent musicians who now have access to professional-grade AI tools for music video creation.

Beyond MVP, Lovable’s capabilities inspired Mike to experiment with other applications.

I even built an astrological matchmaking app, starmate.love for my girlfriend’s start-up with Lovable since then. It’s hard to stop because it’s so much fun to create with an AI that never says NO. It’s opened the doors for creators to move beyond media and innovate practical and useful apps that they only could have dreamed of before.

The Future:  Will AI Reshape Hollywood?

Mike believes AI is not replacing traditional filmmaking but empowering and democratizing it.

The biggest barrier to making films is money. AI is breaking that down. Soon, full-length feature films will be made at a fraction of the cost. AI filmmaking is a new medium that will only get bigger and better

Beyond cost reduction, AI is also transforming how movies are conceptualized and produced.

We're seeing a shift where AI is used not just for research and administrative tools, but as a fundamental tool in storytelling. From pre-visualization to script improvement, AI audits, budget breakdowns, marketing materials and dynamic shot generation, I built MVP to incorporate every single stage of the process of taking a project from an idea to a realized production, Mike explains.

Every department head of any film or television production can benefit from the tools that I couldn’t imagine I could ever build for the… Until I discovered Lovable.

Generate movie with AI

He also envisions AI-powered actors playing a major role in the not so distant future.

There will be AI stars, but they won’t be standalone—they’ll be performance-captured avatars by real actors and voice over artists. With all the latest models that MVP has integrated into it’s platform, anyone can be the actor they always dreamed of being. But this is just the beginning. We’re already in deep talks with top studios to integrate the next wave of virtual production right within the MVP platform.

Currently, MVP is in a closed beta with production companies and top AI creatives, refining its workflow and adding emerging models before a broader launch. For those interested in joining, visit movipods.app to join the waitlist for early access.
