About this template
This template gives finance and operations teams a clean, focused way to track spending against budget. Import a CSV from any finance or CRM tool, map the columns, and immediately see totals, variances, and utilization across categories, departments, and periods.
It includes a public marketing page, email and Google authentication, a three-step onboarding flow, an organization-scoped dashboard, analytics charts, CSV import and export, team management, and a settings area. All data is isolated per organization so each workspace only sees its own budget entries.
Authentication is built in. Users sign up or log in, create or join an organization, and land in a guided onboarding flow. Admins can invite teammates, manage roles, and update workspace settings. Members can import and edit data they create, while viewers have read-only access.
Features & capabilities
Budget vs. actual dashboard
See total budgeted, total spent, variance, and utilization at a glance, with breakdowns by category, department, and period.
CSV import with column mapping
Upload any CSV and map columns to the app's fields. The importer guesses common header names and lets you correct them before importing.
Sample data seeding
Explore the dashboard immediately with realistic sample budget entries across multiple quarters.
Trend and variance analytics
View budget vs. actual trends over time and variance by department with responsive charts.
Top over/underspend rankings
Quickly identify the categories and departments that are most over or under budget.
Raw and rolled-up exports
Download raw entries or pre-rolled summaries by category, department, or period as CSV files.
Multi-tenant organizations
Each workspace is a separate organization with its own budget data and members.
Role-based access control
Admins manage members and settings. Members can import and edit their own entries. Viewers have read-only access.
Token-based team invites
Admins create secure invite links that expire in seven days and only work for the invited email address after sign-in.
Email and Google authentication
Built-in signup and login with email and password, plus Continue with Google for faster access.
Guided onboarding wizard
New workspaces go through a three-step onboarding flow: workspace basics, import or sample data, and team invites.
Public documentation page
A built-in docs page explains how the app works, roles, import and export, and remix instructions for new owners.
Responsive design
Works on desktop, tablet, and mobile with adaptive layouts and touch-friendly controls.
Best use cases
Quarterly budget reviews
Replace the static board deck with a live dashboard. Import the latest numbers, review variance by category and department, and export a rollup when you need to share.
Department spend tracking
Break down spending by department and period so each team can see its own utilization. The dashboard surfaces overspend and underspend automatically.
Leadership reporting
Send leadership a link instead of a screenshot. The dashboard stays current as you import new data, so the view is never out of date.
Cross-functional finance planning
Invite finance, operations, and department heads to the same workspace. Role-based access lets everyone see what they need without exposing admin controls.
