Summary of Changes — Lovable Privacy Policy
Notice given: August 5, 2026 · Effective date: September 9, 2026
We’re updating the Lovable Privacy Policy to make it clearer, reflect new Lovable features and the laws where you live, and explain your choices in more detail. This page summarizes the changes that will take effect on September 9, 2026. Until then, the current policy continues to apply.
The most important things to know as a user of our Free or Pro plan:
- you can opt out of AI model training at any time in Account Settings → Privacy,
- your apps’ end-user data is not used for model training, and
- the content of your projects is not shared with advertising platforms.
Business and Enterprise workspace data remains covered by your organization’s existing agreements and is excluded from training by default.
Read the updated Privacy Policy (effective September 9, 2026)
Who these changes affect
The changes described on this page apply to users on Free and Pro plans. If you use Lovable without an account — for example, you visit our website, or you use an app someone built with Lovable — the updated policy describes how the sections relevant to you are organized, but nothing about our handling of your data will change on the effective date.
On a Business or Enterprise plan? These changes do not modify your agreement with Lovable. Your organization’s data continues to be handled under your Data Processing Agreement and contract terms, which this update does not change. The updates described below concern how the Privacy Policy is organized and how it applies to individual users on Free and Pro plans. Questions: privacy@lovable.dev.
What will not change
- Your organization’s Data Processing Agreement (DPA), if you have one, is not modified by this update.
- Data inside your apps — what your end users submit — will not be used for model training and is held in your project’s own database and storage.
- Your account and billing details are not used for model training.
- The content of your projects is not shared with advertising platforms.
- Your existing privacy rights (access, deletion, correction, objection) continue as before.
- Our security commitments continue as before.
What’s changing
1. We’ve updated the policy to be clearer across all of Lovable.
The updated policy uses plainer language, a cleaner structure, and consistent terminology throughout, so it’s easier to find the sections that apply to you and to understand how your data is handled. It also covers product features the old policy predated or addressed only briefly, including Lovable Cloud, the AI Gateway, connectors and MCP servers, Lovable Desktop, our Slack app, custom domains, and the apps you publish.
2. Your data and your users’ data are treated separately.
When you build an app and other people use it, their data belongs to your project. The updated policy draws a clear line between the content you create on Lovable and the data your apps’ end users submit, which stays in your project’s own database and storage and is processed on your behalf. Each has its own rules throughout the policy.
3. We plan to use certain Free and Pro data for AI model training, and you can opt out at any time — before training begins or after.
Lovable is an AI product: our features become more accurate, useful, and reliable by learning from real usage. Starting on the effective date, we may use Customer Content — your prompts (including images and files you attach), code, project files, and generated outputs — and usage data from Free and Pro plans to train, develop, and improve our AI models and AI-powered features so they become more accurate, useful, and reliable to you. We will rely on legitimate interests to do this, as Section 11 of the updated policy explains.
- You can opt out anytime — before the effective date or after. If you are on a Free or Pro plan, log in and open Account Settings → Privacy and enable Data collection opt out to exclude your own personal data from model training. If you opt out before the effective date, your data is not used for training; if you opt out later, your data is excluded going forward.
- Your apps’ end users are not part of this. We will not use your users’ data — information your apps’ visitors or customers provide to the apps you build — to train our models. We also do not train on your account and billing details.
- Section 5 of the updated policy describes this in full, including what we train on, what we never train on, and how the opt-out works.
4. Limited data may be shared with advertising platforms — with strict limits and choices you control.
With the choices described in Section 6 of the updated policy, we may share limited data — pseudonymized identifiers, not your project content, prompts, code, or your apps’ end-user data — with advertising platforms such as Meta and Google, so we can avoid paying to advertise to existing customers and reach new ones. If you already use Lovable, the main effect is that you see fewer Lovable ads. In the European Economic Area (EEA), UK, Switzerland, and Brazil, this happens only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time in your privacy settings. In the United States, you can opt out at any time, including via the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link or a Global Privacy Control signal.
5. The policy addresses the laws where you live, with the responsible entity identified.
The updated policy is designed to meet the data protection laws that apply to our Services — the EU and UK GDPR, Switzerland’s Federal Act on Data Protection, Canada’s PIPEDA, Brazil’s LGPD, and applicable US federal and state privacy laws — with dedicated sections for US states, Canada, and Brazil at the end. It identifies Lovable Labs Sweden AB, Stockholm, Sweden, as the entity responsible for your personal data (the data controller where that term applies), names Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten (IMY) as our lead supervisory authority, and explains how to contact us and how to complain.
6. The scope of the policy is now defined by your agreement with us, not your plan name.
The outgoing policy describes its scope using plan names. The updated policy instead says that if you use Lovable through a workspace covered by an organization’s agreement with us, that agreement governs the content in that workspace — so the policy stays accurate as plans change. For Business and Enterprise customers, your DPA continues to govern your Customer Content, and the privacy policy governs the account-level data of individual users.
What you should do
Read the updated policy before September 9, 2026. If you continue using Lovable after that date, the updated policy applies. If you don’t want your data used for model training, opt out at any time in Account Settings → Privacy. Questions or concerns: privacy@lovable.dev.
