GPT Engineer is now Lovable

Our Origins

In mid 2023, before code generation was mainstream, we बनाएंd gpt-engineer - an खोलें source प्रोजेक्ट exploring how AI could help बनाएं software. It became the fastest growing code repository on GitHub to date, and today has over 50,000 stars.

The Evolution

After gpt-engineer blew up, we wanted to make it और accessible, since the खोलें source tool is meant for developers using their terminal. Therefore we built a commercial web version called gptengineer.ऐप, meant to be used by non-technical यूज़रs. Around the same time in late 2023, we founded Lovable to tackle the larger mission of creating the last piece of software (software that बनाएंs other software).

Why Lovable?

The name Lovable reflects our mission to make using and बनाएंing software a और enjoyable experience. While gpt-engineer focused on creating a toolkit for developers to experiment and develop codegen, Lovable expands this vision to बनाएं a complete platform for बनाएंing and deploying software through natural conversation.
