Interview
Below is an excerpt from a conversation between Stephane (S) from Lovable and Harsh (H), the creator of HealthSync and winner of uOttaHack.
Who is Harsh?
S: Could you introduce yourself and share your background?
H: My name is Harsh Patel. I completed my bachelor’s in Computer Science in 2021 in India and then worked as a software developer for around two and a half years. I had the chance to dive into projects spanning SaaS, AI, Docker, and Kubernetes. During that time, I got really interested in AI—this was before ChatGPT went mainstream—so I moved to Canada to pursue my Master’s in AI at the University of Ottawa. I also took on a role at Outlier for data annotation and prompt engineering, which sharpened my skills in writing effective prompts to get the best possible responses from large language models.
S: That’s fantastic. So how did you end up using Lovable?
H: I discovered Lovable while exploring different AI-powered development solutions. I was blown away by how quickly you can build and deploy projects. You just need detailed prompts specifying exactly what you want—Lovable’s large language models do the heavy lifting. With the Hackathon coming up, I finally had the chance to bring an idea to life: a health-based AI application that aggregates data from multiple sources (Fitbit, Apple Health, etc.) and uses AI to provide personalized insights. I named it HealthSync.
What is HealthSync?
S: Tell us more about HealthSync. How does it work?
H: HealthSync is essentially a one-stop portal for health tracking. You can upload or sync data from different health apps. Then the app analyzes your data using AI to give actionable advice—like how many more calories you might need to consume, or how many steps you should aim for. It also suggests vitamins and daily routines, tailored to your specific metrics. The real power is how the AI ties everything together for a seamless user experience.
S: That’s impressive. How long did it take you to build?
H: Honestly, only around five or six hours. Because Lovable offers a straightforward, prompt-based approach, I could move incredibly fast. I used Supabase for the database portion, which integrated almost effortlessly. Once I had a solid prompt detailing my app’s structure—like the progress screens, AI insights, and meal analysis—I let Lovable generate the necessary code. Then it was just a matter of fine-tuning and deployment.
S: That’s excellent insight. What’s next for HealthSync?
H: I’m hoping to add more integrations—like Google Fit or Strava—and expand the AI features. Right now, HealthSync’s meal analysis can break down your meals by calories, carbs, and proteins. Next, I want to incorporate real-time alerts and custom health tips. A big dream is to integrate more advanced LLM-based analytics, so you get even more personalized feedback on your overall wellness journey.
What's next?
S: Any advice for fellow developers?
H: Definitely. Invest time in prompt engineering. The more specific and detailed your prompt is, the better the output from Lovable. If you just say, “Build me a health app,” it won’t magically know every feature you want. But if you specify the tech stack, the user flow, and the integration endpoints, Lovable pretty much does the rest. Also, be ready to iterate. Don’t be afraid to refine your prompts and re-generate code until everything clicks.
Conclusion
Harsh Patel’s HealthSync showcases the future of rapid application development. By combining robust AI insights with clear, detailed prompting, he created a life-changing health tracking tool in a fraction of the time traditional development would have taken. Whether you’re a developer intrigued by lightning-fast builds or someone looking to improve personal wellness, HealthSync is a testament to what’s possible with the right blend of passion, AI, and Lovable.
