Yes, you can use a subdomain (e.g., app.yourcompany.com). Setup is the same as a full domain: point the subdomain's A record to Lovable's IP. Subdomains count toward your custom domain limit. Free plans include up to 5 subdomains; paid plans allow more.
Can I connect multiple subdomains to my Lovable project?
Yes, you can connect multiple subdomains (e.g., app.yourcompany.com, dashboard.yourcompany.com) to the same Lovable project. Each requires its own DNS A record pointing to Lovable's IP and separate verification. Set one as your primary domain for consistency.
Can I remove the xxx.lovable.app project URL?
No, the default Lovable subdomain (xxx.lovable.app) cannot be removed. It serves as a permanent fallback URL for your project. Even with custom domains connected, the Lovable subdomain remains accessible. This ensures you always have a working project URL.
Can I use a subdomain for email sending?
Yes, you can use a subdomain (e.g., mail.yourcompany.com) as your email domain. Setup is the same: add SPF, DKIM, and DMARC records for the subdomain in your DNS provider. Verify the subdomain in Resend, then use it as your 'From' address. Subdomains are a good way to separate email from your main domain.
Do I need to connect a www subdomain separately?
Many DNS providers automatically alias www to your root domain, but it depends on your provider. For safety, explicitly add both the root domain (yourcompany.com) and www subdomain (www.yourcompany.com) as separate A records pointing to Lovable's IP. Check your provider's documentation.
How do I remove a custom domain?
In Project Settings → Domains, find the domain and click 'Remove' or the trash icon. The domain will be disconnected from your project immediately. Your DNS records will no longer point to Lovable. The xxx.lovable.app subdomain remains as your fallback.
How do I set a primary domain?
In Project Settings → Domains, click the domain you want to make primary and select 'Set as Primary.' The primary domain is your main public URL. You can change it anytime, but only one domain can be primary per project. Other connected domains will forward or be available as alternates.
How do I unset a primary domain?
You cannot unset a primary domain entirely, but you can change it to a different domain. Select a different domain in Project Settings → Domains and mark it as primary. The previous primary will become a secondary domain if still connected.
