About this template

Every month, finance teams rebuild the same board deck by hand: export the actuals, update twenty slides, re-explain the variances, and hope nobody asks for a scenario you didn't prepare. This Finance Dashboard replaces that deck with one live screen. The centerpiece is an animated money-flow diagram showing revenue merging and splitting into cost of revenue, operating expense, and profit — the P&L, legible at a glance.

Around it sit four disciplined panels: a KPI strip with counting tickers for ARR, gross margin, net burn, runway, and cash; a 13-week cash forecast fan chart with a draggable hiring-spend handle that recalculates the runway date as you drag; a budget-to-actual variance waterfall whose bars reveal in sequence and open a commentary panel on click; and a compact accounts receivable aging table with collection risk flags.

Everything renders from one data file. Company name, currency, locale, monthly actuals and budget, planning scenarios, and the receivables ledger all live in a single place, and every panel derives what it shows from those exports. Swapping the numbers is enough to rebrand and repopulate the entire dashboard, and a sample spreadsheet ships with the template so you can see the expected shape.

And because this is a Lovable app, not a locked BI dashboard, you can change anything by asking for it in chat: add a view, change a scenario preset, restyle it to your brand. No ticket filed, no waiting on anyone.

Features & capabilities

Animated Sankey money flow

Revenue lines merge and split into cost of revenue, opex categories, and profit, with ribbons that morph between months and scenarios.

Hover-to-trace flow paths

Hovering or focusing a ribbon highlights the full path end to end and surfaces its value, with a keyboard path and ARIA summary.

KPI strip with count-up tickers

ARR, gross margin, net burn, runway months, and cash balance animate in on load, and each cell flips to reveal how the measure is calculated.

13-week cash forecast fan chart

A weekly forecast band widens with uncertainty further out, derived from trailing actuals and expected receivable collections.

Draggable hiring what-if handle

Drag monthly hiring spend up or down and the runway date recalculates immediately, on touch as well as pointer.

Budget vs actual variance waterfall

Bars reveal sequentially from budget to actual, showing each line's contribution to the gap.

Variance commentary panel

Click any bar to open a slide-out with a plain-English read of that line, its budget, actual, and impact.

AI-generated commentary

Request written commentary for a single line or a whole month on demand, streamed in and clearly labeled as generated.

Scenario modeling from prose

Describe a planning case in a sentence and get a validated scenario with editable multipliers per revenue line, cost, and opex category.

Scenario presets

Four authored planning cases ship with the template and work with no AI calls made.

Accounts receivable aging

A compact grid of open invoices by aging bucket with collection risk flags, customer segment, and derived collection notes.

Light and dark themes

A persisted theme toggle with a full token set for both modes, including chart colors tuned separately for each.

Single-file data layer

Brand, locale, monthly records, budget, scenarios, and the receivables ledger live in one file that every panel derives from.

Guided data import

An in-app guide plus a sample spreadsheet show exactly which fields are required and which are derived for you.

Responsive down to mobile

The layout adapts to tablet and phone, with the Sankey scrolling horizontally rather than compressing into illegibility.

Best use cases

Board and investor reporting

Walk a board through the month with one screen instead of twenty slides. The money-flow diagram frames where revenue went, the variance waterfall answers the follow-up questions, and the runway readout is on the same page.

Live scenario planning

Type a planning case in plain language, or pick a preset, and the entire dashboard re-renders against it. Drag the hiring-spend handle during a discussion and watch the runway date move in real time.

Monthly close review

Step through the trailing twelve months, compare each P&L line to budget, and open the commentary panel on any variance that needs an explanation. Lines without written commentary fall back to a deterministic read of the numbers.

Cash and collections management

Combine the 13-week forecast with the receivables aging table to see which open invoices land inside the horizon and which carry collection risk, flagged and sorted by exposure.

Getting started

Step 1: Remix this template

Click "Remix" to create your copy. You'll have a fully populated finance dashboard running on synthetic demo figures you can explore before touching anything.

Step 2: Familiarize yourself with the project

Go to User > Settings > Knowledge, and read what's under "Project knowledge" to understand the intended architecture and access control model. You can also ask Lovable in the chat for more details.

Step 3: Customize your brand

Update the company name, page title, currency, and locale in the brand config, then adjust the color tokens and typography. The whole masthead, footer, and page metadata follow from those settings.

Step 4: Add your financial data

Open the in-app "Template instructions" guide, download the sample spreadsheet, and paste your monthly actuals, budget, and receivables into Lovable chat. The dashboard, forecast, and variance analysis all recompute from the new figures.

Step 5: Invite your team

Publish the dashboard and share the link with your finance team, leadership, or board. Because there's no sign-in step, a reviewer only needs the URL to see the current picture.

Step 6: Go live

Deploy with one click. Lovable handles hosting and performance.

Step 7: Iterate and make it yours

Add the views your reporting cycle actually needs, change the scenario presets to your own planning cases, and rewrite the commentary to match how your team talks about the numbers.

FAQ

Where does my financial data live?

In one data file inside your own copy of the app. There's no database and no third-party connection by default; nothing leaves your project unless you publish it.

Can I control who sees the dashboard?

Yes. Ask Lovable in chat to add sign-in — for example, Google sign-in restricted to your company's domain — before sharing beyond your team.

Does it work without AI?

Yes. The four scenario presets and the deterministic variance reads work with no AI calls. AI-written commentary and prose-to-scenario are on-demand extras.

Can I connect it to my accounting system?

The template is paste-your-numbers by design so it renders instantly. When you're ready, ask in chat to wire up an import from your accounting or ERP export.

Is it really free to use?

Remixing the template is free. You get the full source in your own project, with no locked features.

Conclusion

This dashboard works for finance leaders, founders, and operators who present numbers to other people and want the presentation to do some of the explaining. You get a money-flow diagram that makes the P&L legible at a glance, a runway forecast you can stress-test live in a meeting, variance analysis with plain-English commentary, and receivables risk in one compact grid. It replaces the monthly slide deck you rebuild by hand, and every figure traces back to one file you control.
